As part of the continued growth of our UKAS accredited Asbestos Surveying Consultancy, we are seeking a Trainee Asbestos Surveyor to join our expanding team based around the Southampton area.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start a professional career in the asbestos and environmental consultancy sector. Full training will be provided, leading to a recognised industry qualification (BOHS P402 or equivalent), with ongoing support and mentoring from our experienced surveyors.

Core Responsibilities (once trained)
- Sampling and surveying for asbestos in buildings (Management and Refurbishment/Demolition) on domestic, commercial and industrial properties, in accordance with HSG264 and company procedures.
- Collecting data and compiling reports using the asbestos management software ‘Alpha Tracker’ (training provided).
- Re-inspection of asbestos materials in buildings.
- Liaising with clients, contractors and project managers in a professional manner.
- Completing method statements and risk assessments.
- Maintaining a strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Working independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality work.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and UKAS requirements.
Personal Responsibilities
- To maintain a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction.
- Maintain company vehicle and equipment.
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to team culture.
Education and Qualifications
- No prior asbestos qualifications required — full training will be provided.
- You will work towards achieving the BOHS P402 qualification (Asbestos Surveying) as part of your structured training programme.
- Health and Safety qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
Hours & Salary
You’ll work a flexible 40-hour week, with the opportunity of additional hours, some travel and occasional working away from home (if agreeable to you).
Competitive salary (Based upon proven experience).

Job Requirements
- Working on a variety and diverse range of locations and sites; including high profile projects for regional, national and international clients. The role supports a highly reactive team. You’ll be proactive, reliable, and adaptable.
- You must be enthusiastic, dedicated and hardworking with excellent attention to detail. Verbal and written communication skills are essential along with excellent time management skills and following tasks through to completion.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a larger team is crucial to this role. Being IT literate and holding a full clean UK driving license is preferable.
- This is a technical, physical, hands on role which will require you to physically and visually inspect a variety of sites and buildings, capturing building construction and material data along with drawing electronic site plan.
